WHAT YOU NEED
  • 1 64 oz. NESQUIK Powder canister.
  • Utility knife
  • Glue stick
  • Craft glue gun
  • Safety scissors
  • 2 - 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheets of dark brown velvet paper, (found in the album section of craft stores)
  • 2 - 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheets of chestnut brown velvet paper, (found in the album section of craft stores)
  • 1 package of colored feathers (available in craft stores)
  • 1/8 inch hole punch
  • 3 foot length of yellow nylon ribbon
  • 1 foot length of 1/2-inch wide red ribbon

HOW TO DO IT
  • Print out the trim template.

  • Cut out two pieces of dark brown velvet paper to fit around the canister. Secure the trimmed paper to the canister with a glue stick.

  • Use the template as a pattern to cut the trim from chestnut brown velvet paper.

  • Punch holes in each of the triangle tips, about 1/4 inch from the point, with a 1/8 inch hole punch.

  • Using a craft glue gun, glue on the trim (leaving the triangle tips unglued).
  • Cut a circle 8 inches in diameter from chestnut brown velvet paper. With a hot glue gun, glue the circle to the top center of the lid, leaving the yellow border of the plastic lid exposed.

  • Cut a piece of yellow nylon string to measure 3 feet long. Thread through the holes on the triangle trim following a zig-zag pattern from top to bottom (see image). Tie the ends together.

  • Cut one piece of 1/2-inch wide red ribbon to measure 5 inches long. Glue three feathers to the end of the ribbon with a craft glue gun. Glue the other end of the ribbon just below the rim of the lid.
