WHAT YOU NEED
- 2 - 4 NESTLÉ JUICY JUICE plastic bottle caps
- Permanent colored markers
- 1 sheet of heavy card stock
- Safety scissors
- Crayons
- 1 brass brad (available at office supply stores)
- 1 - 12 x 12 inch sheet of poster board
- Utility knife
- Pen
- 1 - hole punch
- 1 die
HOW TO DO IT
- Wash and dry 2 - 4 JUICY JUICE bottle caps.
- With colored permanent markers, draw a simple clock face on each cap.
- Print out the game board squares template. You will need 10 game squares, so either make 10 copies to cut out or print one template and trace 9 additional squares onto a sheet of paper and cut out.
- With a permanent black marker, write down time-related questions in each square. We have provided suggestions on the Game Board Ilustration, but you may customize your game squares to your family's routine.
- Make each square a different color to make a colorful game board.
- Print the Clock Template onto heavy card stock. Cut out each piece.
- Color in the clock and hands.
- Arrange the squares and the face of the clock on a poster board, and glue them down with a glue stick.
- (PARENTS ONLY) Use a utility knife to create a small opening in the #162er of the clock. Then using a ballpoint pen, create a hole through this opening that goes through the poster board as well.
- With a hole-punch, create holes in the hands of the clock where indicated on the template. Secure the hands of the clock to the board with a brass brad.
HOW TO PLAY
This is a fun and simple way to help your children learn to tell time by relating it to the things that they do each day.
- Give each player a clock game piece made from a JUICY JUICE cap.
- Have each player roll the die. The one rolling the highest number begins the game.
- Each player rolls the die and moves his or her game piece the number of spaces shown on the die.
- The player then answers the question that is written on the square they landed on. They also move the hands of the clock to the correct time.
- If they are correct, they can roll again.
- If they don't know the answer or how to position the hands of the clock it is the next player's turn.
- The first player to move around the board is the winner.
TIPS
- Make sure you secure the brass brad through the clock loosely so that the children can move the hands of the clock.
FOLLOW UP FUN
- Help your child make his or her very own watch with moving hands. (See Watch Time!)
