Don't put all your eggs in one basket; let them dangle from a festive NESTLÉ® NestEggs™ tree! Grown-ups and kids of all ages will enjoy creating a centerpiece that doubles as dinnertime fun!

What you need:

  • Clay pot
  • Tempera paint
  • Sponge
  • Willow branches
  • Craft foam to fit clay pot
  • Shredded paper grass
  • ONKA® NERDS® Bumpy Jelly Beans, and/or WONKA® SWEETARTS® Jelly Beans
  • 4-inch circle pieces of tulle
  • Ribbon
  • Child-safe scissors
  • Egg- or oval-shaped punch or pattern
  • Scrapbooking paper

How to do it:

  1. Cover a work surface with newspaper.
  2. Sponge-paint a clay pot in your favorite springtime shade.
  3. Use craft foam to secure a bouquet of willow branches. Hide the craft foam with white or neutral excelsior grass sprinkled with WONKA® NERDS® Bumpy Jelly Beans and/or WONKA® SWEETARTS® Jelly Beans.
  4. Wrap NESTLÉ® BUTTERFINGER® or NESTLÉ® CRUNCH® NestEggs™ in pieces of tulle and tie them at the top with coordinating ribbons.
  5. Use an oval punch or pattern to cut out paper ornaments where kids can jot their ideas for Easter fun. Include thought-provoking questions to jump start dinnertime dialog and egg-citing challenges to keep everyone in the family hopping! (See below for a list of ideas.) Loop ribbon through a hole punched in the top of each ornament.
  6. Trim your Easter tree with the tulle-wrapped NESTLÉ® NestEggs™ ornaments and egg-shaped notes.
  7. Display your centerpiece during the days or weeks leading up to Easter. Choose one meal every day during which you'll take turns choosing a paper ornament from the tree. If a question is selected, let everyone share their answers. If a challenge is picked, let the games begin!

IDEAS FOR FAMILY FUN

  • Check out this starter list of enticing questions and goofy challenges to write down on the paper ornaments!
  • Pretend you're an egg - go hide!
  • Act out an Easter charade.
  • Hug two people.
  • Wear bunny ears and hop around the table!
  • Eat like a rabbit!
  • Make up a joke about the Easter Bunny.
  • Do the bunny hop or the chicken dance.
  • Tell a story with these words: bunny, chocolate, flowers, ears, tail, eggs, grass.
  • Draw the Easter Bunny - while wearing a blindfold!
  • Write down one thing you love about every one at the table.
  • How many smaller words can you find in the word EASTER?
  • What kind of flower would you like to be? Why?
  • Where do you think the Easter Bunny lives in the winter?
  • If you could do today all over again, what would you change?
  • What is your favorite thing about spring? Why?
  • What is the best gift you have ever received?
  • What does hope mean to you?
  • What would you fix for Easter dinner?
  • What do you think you'll be doing on Easter 10 years from now?

FOLLOW-UP FUN

  • Make a family tree! Turn everyday snapshots into ornaments, matted with colorful paper and hung with pretty ribbon. Display your "family tree" on a fireplace mantel or end table to share with everyone.
  • Swap Easter ornaments for new decorations as other holidays approach. Add bursts of red, white, and blue to celebrate July 4th; string tiny lights and miniature bulbs for Christmas; or dangle red and pink hearts before Valentine's Day!
  • Celebrate your kids' artistry with an "Artists' Tree." Give the refrigerator a break and use the willow bouquet to display small paper canvases of your kids' artwork.
  • Seasons change, so your tree should too! Hang kid-designed flowers from the branches to celebrate spring and summer. As autumn leaves turn color, encourage kids to create vibrant leaf-shaped ornaments. During wintertime, let it snow inside with glittery white snowflakes dangling from the tree.
