You don't have to wait for summer to have a campout. Set up camp right in your living room with our creative tips, delicious snacks and fun activities.
Indoor Camping Tips:
- Gather tents, sleeping bags, blankets and pillows for your camp-in.
Set the mood with nature sounds. You can find CDs featuring nature sounds in the music section at your local retailer. Sounds such as chirping crickets and babbling brooks can also be found on many alarm clocks.
Glow-in-the-dark stars create a realistic night sky. They come in all sizes, and they can be easily attached to your ceiling to create a night sky. Find them at your local toy and hobby store.
Paper bag luminaries can be made with a parent's help and set outside of the tent to create the illusion of a campfire. Just place sand in a paper bag and place a small votive candle securely in the sand.
Snack Ideas:
- Nothing complements camping like a hot cup of NESTLÉ® Hot Cocoa®. For an extra treat, top each mug with whipped cream and NESTLÉ® SNOWCAPS®.
Make a unique fruity snack mix. Just combine dry cereal, almonds, dried cranberries and WONKA® NERDS®. This crunchy trail mix is the perfect snack for indoor camping!
Fun Activities:
Group Scary Story. Get everyone involved in the storytelling by inviting one person to lead a scary story while the other campers think of creative ways to build off of it. Each person only has one minute to tell his or her part of the story. See how silly stories can get when time is on the line.
Share a Memory. Share your favorite camping memory with your kids. Remembering your childhood can translate into new memories for you and your family. Encourage your kids to share a story with you about their favorite family experience.
