Birthday Wish Jar

It's your child's birthday week, and each day leading up to the big day is filled with anticipation. As you're counting down, celebrate all week long with this fun-filled activity.

Grab some stickers, paint and glitter for your child to decorate a jar with her name and an artistic birthday theme. Then have her write down 7 little wishes that can come true — because they're simply some of her favorite things to do. Fold up the little wishes and drop them in the jar. Each day approaching her birthday, have her pull one out and grant the wish!

Here are some sample wishes:

• Wear my favorite dress today
• Read 3 books with mom tonight
• Find my favorite snack in my lunchbox
• I get to choose what’s for dinner
• Watch my favorite DVD on family movie night
• Sit in dad’s seat at the dining room table
• Skip one chore today
