More on
  • 1 round lid from a 48.7 oz. or 40.7 oz. NESTLÉ NESQUIK canister
  • Craft knife
  • Craft glue gun
  • 1-1/2 inch wide by 7 inches long colored plastic strips (available at craft stores)
  • 1 recipe for soapy bubbles (see recipe below)

  • (PARENTS ONLY) Use a craft knife to cut out the center of the NESQUIK lid. Use the inside ridge as a guide.

  • (PARENTS ONLY) Use a craft knife to cut a 1-1/2 inch slit on one side of the lid's edge.

  • To create the wand's handle, use 1-1/2 x 7 inch plastic strip. Insert one end through the slit in the NESQUIK lid. Secure with a liberal amount of craft glue. Let dry.

  • Make a batch of Soapy Bubbles (see recipe below.)

  • Take the bubbles and wand outside for giant bubble fun!

  • Play bubble-blowing games. For example: who can make the biggest bubble, whose bubble pops first - whose bubble pops last, whose bubble travels farthest.

Soapy Bubbles

  • 2 cups of dishwashing detergent
  • 4 cups of warm water
  • 6 - 8 tablespoons of glycerin (available at drugstores)
  • 2 teaspoon of sugar

  • MIX all of the ingredients together in an unbreakable container.

  • Show the children that there are two ways to make bubbles. They can dip into the solution and blow, slowly through the opening or, they can wave the wand in one direction, through the air.

  • Turn the bubbles into an art project. Tape a banner-sized piece of craft paper onto an outdoor table. Pour the bubble solution into several containers and add food coloring to each container. Dip the wands into the solution and allow the bubbles to burst on the paper. When dry, your child has created a sheet of beautiful wrapping paper that can be rolled up and saved for wrapping that special gift.
